Indoor pickleball in Florida, I rate that right up there with indoor swimming’s pools in Florida. It’s that why we move down here? :)

Some people get a diagnosis of melanoma and want to play, but need inside.

I play pickle ball 6 days a week, believe me I would prefer indoor airconditioned
courts over outdoor courts on any day in the summer. People who are hooked like me totally understand..

Isn’t indoor pickleball racquetball?

No, racquetball is played with two players against walls. You can play the ball off all four walls. Completely different game.

I too wish there were a gym or space for indoor Pickleball! Playing on wood floors is so much easier on the joints, and far fewer accidents! I had a serious injury on the concrete courts, vs 4 years of accident free play on indoor wood courts.

Not the same game at all.

Grand Oaks has indoor pickle ball courts.

Thanks. I referred to this place as “Royal Oak” in error in my opening post. I made the edit.

Grand Oaks is the place that no longer has indoor pickleball and was the reason for the question. Another Covid casualty apparently.

Now that the indoor pickleball courts at Grand Oaks are gone, I did a search for indoor courts in and around the Villages. Only found one location so far---Leesburg Rec Center, 1851 Griffin Road.

If anybody knows of others, please post here.

I was glad to hear that the Villages is finally building an indoor pickleball facility at the future Eastport Lifestyle Center, but the video says it's about three years away.

3 years or not, to think the Villages would actually consider indoor PBall at all is incredible. But dont count on it. Yes there are 214 outdoor Courts, no, they are not well maintained, no they are not run with all the levels of players in mind either. No the lessons are not hands on, but PB is OK if you are a rated player, you have many choices. the rest of you, well tough.

Only the person who shouts their complaint the loudest gets anything done or changed Trust me I have been trying to get the Rec Dept to care for PB players for over 11 years.

Even your complaint isn't loud enough?!? :)

The lessons I had last year were hands on.

Just curious, how does this differ from raquetball?

Even though I am responding to rosebud’s negativity that is far from reality, I’m glad nobody else jumped on such off the mark comments. I think you would be hard pressed to find another location that offers so much for all levels of player

Quick answer - Sort of similar to table tennis on a court.
