I can, but only because one of my kids had a non-profit next door in Namibia. I do know a lot of them though from sponsoring children through Compassion International so I look at a map when praying for them.

One of my go to places. Land locked - southern Africa, but it has the Kalahari Desert which is actually a savannah. An Amazing Place with great diversity of plants and animals.
Bother to Google it. 🧐

I think I got it!

Isn't that the name of the new group of homes in the extreme southern side of the Villages that also feature both an East AND West village? LOL

*** on a serious note, in Botswana, Setswana is the national language and is spoken by most of the population with English as a second language.

Without looking I think it's just north of South Africa. Now I'm going to look.

I agree that many of the countries are very small and it probably leads to the economic problems in Africa.

I was looking at a current map of Africa. There are 54 countries. At the end of WW2, there were only four independent countries. They were Egypt, Ethiopia, Liberia and South Africa. By 1970, there were 48 nations in Africa.

Alaska has a total area of 665,384 square miles.
Texas has a total area of 268,596 square miles.
Florida has a total area of 65,758 square miles.

The biggest country in Africa is Algeria which is 919,595 square miles.
If Alaska were in Africa, it would be the 5th largest country in Africa and if Florida were in Africa,
Florida would be the 35th largest country in Africa so there are 20 countries in Africa smaller than Florida.

Little known fact - if you flew straight east from the Villages and landed at the prime meridian, you would be in Algeria. Before looking at a map, I thought we would be in Spain.

I didn’t think Tobago was in Africa so I was really confused. I then found out that the runner’s name was Tebogo but that he was from Botswana. But I then had to google Botswana to find out where it was.

Doesn’t the medal go to the Country not the Continent?

I can do the United States, Canada provinces, all the English/Gaelic countries, and some of the Mediterranean/MiddleEast and some of Asia. Never learned the African nations. Though I do know Morocco is right under Spain and Egypt is on the upper right corner near Israel, which is partly in West Asia and partly in the MiddleEast. Partial credit for that!

Actually, it goes to the individual athlete/s.

I observed a woman who came into our very large and modern DENTIST office for a procedure, with a very neurotic dog in her dog 'PURSE'.

It kept biting the leather handle of her very expensive bag, but why it was allowed is beyond me.
Bring that Elephant back!

I find it surprising that there is a huge dispute as to the number of countries in the world. The UN recognizes 195 countries.

The CIA lists 237 countries and Peakbagger.com counts 253 "countries" by including 55 dependencies, Antarctica, and three other areas.

I would be hard pressed to name 100 countries much less locate them on a map!

I observed a woman who came into (my 1st visit this week) our very large and modern DENTIST office for her cleaning, with a very neurotic dog in her dog 'PURSE' who was chewing the leather straps of the "doggie bag"

Annoying personality behavior was highlighted by her talking on her cell while in the waiting room. I tried to consider the source of an entitled woman, to no avail.

Bring that Elephant back from Boswana, it's time to show our angst.
