The US Women's Team seemed to have luck on their side. Will it be England or a rematch with Japan?

Tal - after watching last night's game I believe the U.S. won because of their aggressive and great ball play, along with their conditioning....some luck but mostly domination of the pitch.

Are you referring to the German player, who missed her penalty kick?

Definitely was a crucial time in the game and possible energized the USA team. A turning point in the game. IMHO

In all of sports, it's called peaking at the right time. They are playing extremely well and seems they have a speedy team, that ready knows how to defend. Alex Morgan can ready leave some players in the dust. Kick in downfield and let her outrun the defenders.

Carli is one heck of a player. Always seems to be in the middle of good things happening.

Last time I looked at all championships teams, they seemed to be the best defensive team, out there!

BTW - Luck is the residue of hard work!!!!

GO USA!!!!! Against Japan? What I know about soccer, you could fit in a timble.

Getting ready for the Japan/England game. Hoping for another nail biter.

Soccer. Really?
I watch it for as long as it takes to turn it off. It's almost as bad as NASCAR

Japan won on the most unfortunate of circumstances. A player from England meant to kick the ball over her own goal to get it out of bounds in the last minute before overtime but kicked it in by mistake. She couldn't be consoled.

I saw that and hoped the replay would disallow the goal. It was gut wrenching to watch.

On another note the father of the USA coach lives in The Villages. Here isan interesting and heart warming article about them.....

New U.S. coach Jill Ellis follows in father's steps

thank-you
I enjoyed the article and hope I get to meet John some day. I can't wait till Sunday.
I can watch the game at a friends house or go to Gators or some other place. It would be fun to be in a crowd, yelling and screaming. If anyone knows about a group getting together, please post it.

Why did you feel a need to comment on this thread? Those of us who are interested don't turn it off. The games have been close and exciting. England's loss to Japan will be remembered for a very long time with an "own goal" ending. Some of us know people involved and are rooting for them. GO USA!

Thanks for the positive post. I do not know a lot about soccer. It did look like on one of the keys plays that ended with a penalty kick point by Carli Lloyd was called poorly by the referee. Since there is no reviews of referee calls in soccer according to one commentator the call held up.

Japan vs. US should be very interesting. And referee calls could determine that game too.

I see that there have been a few people that have expressed an interest in watching the games some place since the beginning of the tournament. Is there any interest in meeting up at Gators (lake sumter), or another restaurant as a group to watch the finals tomorrow? I would love to watch it with a bunch of other soccer enthusiasists!!!

I would love to go somewhere tonight to watch the final with other soccer enthusiasts--it's more fun with other people. The parents of the US team's coach live here in The Villages. Maybe they flew to Vancouver. City Fire @ Sumter said they would change the channel for me. Maybe all who read this can go too--but I am open to another watching venue.

I'm open to going anywhere. The only reason I had mentioned Gators was because people on earlier posts had talked about going there. They too will change the chanel.
