Yes, for 26 years- all on the street. Driving instructor, traffic stop instructor. Forgetting to do something under stress is not wrongdoing.

Nobody wants to be a cop anymore because of all the youtube experts telling them how to do their jobs. BLM and other critics have reduced candidate pools to people that can't pass background checks.

You're probably right. Working the admittance gate at a professional golf tournament at 5 a.m., is bound to be stressful. All those creeps, driving $100,000 courtesy cars, wearing shorts and polyester shirts, can be scary.

Until an entitled jerk drives that car around the protected scene and disregards you. More cops are killed by cars than bullets.

And stress? Try operating in an OR when everything goes sideways, and you've got to figure out a way to fix it... (I speak from experience)...

Yes, operating can be stressful, especially since medical negligence kills more people than cops every year. I almost bought it after getting a 10 times too high dose of an allergy shot, but it didn't make the news nor did I sue because mistakes happen.

Should we put body cams on all medical people (or insert your job here)? If they forget to turn them on, let's all criticize them for wrongdoing. We can make all the footage available to the public. Your supervisors can watch the video anytime they want to criticize you. Let's make the video available to the media so they can edit it, show it out of context, and only show the few seconds that paint you in a bad light. Imagine a job in which you are criticized for the maliciousness of individuals in other states. Imagine being constantly called racist for choosing a job.

That's my feeling on the body cam issue. It can be a great tool if used properly. It's horrible if used to vindictively supervise or publicly abuse people. Either way, forgeting to turn it on is not evidence of wrongdoing, only failure to follow a policy. That's my only point. The detective (who surely does not wear one in his normal duties) was or will be disciplined for not following proceedures. That should.make some of you happy.

I am very happy to be retired and I would never encourage anyone to do that job. Nobody wants to do it anymore. The pool of applicants is dwindling and we will all suffer the consequences of it.

Except....Scheffler was waved through by the officer standing in front of him who was assigned to traffic control and was in possession of the memo from the department that players, staff, coaches and media should be waved around the obstruction. This moron detective with a god complex who was working the crash site ran up from behind the driver's side of the clearly marked courtesy car and grabbed the handle of a moving vehicle. I realize you may view him as a "brother in blue", but why defend this idiot's actions in this scenario? Even his own department reprimanded him. In addition, the 2 golf channel reporters that were 100 feet from the incident at the time stated the detective was using incredibly foul language, and upon Scheffler exiting the vehicle he slammed his head against the window. I was watching the first reports live on Golf Channel and heard exactly what they reported. The picture is now complete----a detective who was not working traffic, did not have the instructional memo, did not have his body camera turned on but was going to "prove" he was "in charge" and teach the "bad guy" a lesson---and chose to do so by an idiotic grab onto a moving vehicle. I suppose, in his own mind, he thought they'd pin a medal on him for his act of "bravery" :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Looks like the quality of the Louisville police could be improved.
