Covid-19 now in TV softball
As of yesterday the softball league now has a confirmed case of covid-19.
A player who played this past Thursday and found out on friday he was positive. Another player has reported he was exposed to the virus on Wednesday he went into self quarantine. Another player had symptoms and is awaiting test results. Given how close these players are during games and often socialize afterwards no wonder this is happening. It won't be long before we all hear that someone we know comes down with it, in the very least have mild symptoms. Hopefully no one else gets the virus. I hope that is the last I hear of this. This report was in the men's summer Rec league division 4. Because of that info N4 neighborhood league had cancelled games on 7/4. Rec 4 league is cancelled for Monday 7/6 cause many are going to go be tested. Rec 4 will reevaluate on Thursday after some tests come back. BUT the decision has been made that Rec 3 will be playing games on Monday 7/6!!! Last edited by Michael Charles; 07-06-2020 at 05:34 AM. |

So, what did it have to do with actually playing softball? Did they catch it from the bat Or ball beings the ball sanitized? they probably caught it socializing days before? NOT social distancing, not wearing masks. I highly doubt they caught it playing softball, Most likely they had it few days before the game anyway.

Do you think they are sanitizing the ball each and every time a different player touches it? Imagine the umpire giving the ball to the pitcher, he/she in turn throw warm up pitches to the catcher, the catcher returns it to the pitcher, then up comes the first batter who hits the ball to the center fielder who the relays that same ball to the infielder who then throws it back to the pitcher, do you follow that logic for each thrown then for each batted then for each fielded ball? |

Six months into this, data indicates infection from surface contact is unlikely Tracing goes back finding prolonged nearby face-to-face face or indoor transmission.
I'd still be careful to wash hands and not touch face. |

Considering the vast number of people who play softball in TV, it's actually surprising that there is only 1.

Does it really matter who, where or when? It's out there and everyone is trying to restart and reopen so exposure is probably not an option. One should always assume they are in harms way. The down side is when one person gets it anyone who was exposed will close down sports, restaurants, and other gathering locations. That is the way it is and will be for a long time.
