Default Peter Matthiessen "Killing Mr. Watson"

Has anyone read the "Edgar Watson" trilogy? If so, I wonder if you were as impressed with Matthiessen's writing as I was. Of course, he's an award winning author and it was only my ignorance of the finest literature that caused me to not "discover" his skill years ago.
Being that I'm moving to TV this Summer, I was blown away by his description of life in Florida in the post Civil War - early 20th century era. The new Brownwood Town Square's reverance paid to the Florida "cracker" town takes on added meaning for me with an appreciation for what life may really have been like around central FL back in those days.I have read all of the books by Matthiessen on that topic several times, and I keep reading them. Any one of those books would be a great topic for a book club. I'd love to be in a book club on that topic when I arrive in FL in the Summer. Anyone interested?
