Cannot really see Tom Cruise as Reacher either. I had a terrible time with Matt Damon as Jason Bourne too at least until he had played Bourne in a few movies.

Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher? Absurd. Reacher is 6'5" and well over 200 pounds, and what is Cruise, 5'7" and a buck fifty? That's miscasting at its worst.

totally agree. I'm sure he'll put out an entertaining movie, but anyone who has read the books won't be able to look at his character and think Jack Reacher.

Also agree! I can't think of whom I would pick to play Reacher. If it was an earlier time I would go with John Wayne or Randolph Scott or Gary Cooper. Maybe The Rock?

maybe Jason Statham, the actor who was in "The Transporter" he's certainly the right type...

Can you believe that Lee Child came up with the idea of the name of Reacher after he wife joked with him after he reached for some fruit at a grocery store. She told him he could get a job as a reacher for the grocery store if his writing did not sell.

I'm a huge Jack Reacher fan. Disappointed that Tom Cruise will be playing the role in the first Jack Reacher film. My impression of Reacher is totally different.

The Reacher character sounds more like you would need someone with a lot of height and bulk-- say, The Rock or Vin Diesel.
Vin Diesel is only 6 feet but his movies seem to make him a lot bigger.

I loved them all. Just finished his latest one. Nail biting! Now I'm reading Baldacci's Zero Day. I feel like it's a Reacher book.
