Default Sharpe's Assassin. Bernard Cornwell.

Sharpe's Assassin
– HarperCollins

He has a new Richard Sharpe novel coming out in late November of 2021.

If you are not familiar with the Sharpe novels and love historical fiction in the war/romance area, you should check them out.

Sean Bean played the character Richard Sharpe in the British TV series.

Me, too. His other books are OK but no where near as exciting as the Sharpe books as well as the TV series.

And Richard Sharp was getting kind of old for all the adventures he was having and the many wounds he had had.

Perhaps he picked an earlier period in his life.

After he started the series he did go back with several books of Sharpe in India.

I loved the TV series and have it on DVD. I liked “The Last Kingdom” series on TV even more, not least because Alfred the Great was my 34th great-grandfather. My ex-wife’s family were the governors of Bamburgh Castle, where Uhtred of Bebbanhurg lived and ruled, from 1191-1704. (“The castle was briefly retaken by the Britons from his son Hussa during the war of 590 before being retaken later the same year. In c. 600, Hussa's successor Æthelfrith passed it on to his wife Bebba, from whom the early name Bebbanburh was derived. Vikings destroyed the original fortification in 993.” Wikipedia) I’d like to read the books someday.

Love both "The Last Kingdom" and the Sharpe stories. There is more history out there that we have yet to rediscover. My latest research into my family tree is attempting to trace where my ancestor Roger The Bald ended up after coming over with William in 1066. He was the progenitor of the Chaffee( Chafe, Chafee) line.
