I just thought I would share; Ive been devoting at least 1/2 hour to saying the Rosary or watching EWTN daily since the Pandemic. Last evening I told myself that I must go to the Bible and begin looking up passages to expand my knowledge as I have never done so before and did not know where to start.. And here is the section that I "stumbled" into.
God is so good.

Nice work. I minored in Religious Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno and got two B.A.s in Philosophy and History. (Dec. 1980; May 1981).

That book looks like it would make a good addition to my library.

I got interested in the problem of evil after my then Earl Wooster High School English teacher's daughter, Michelle Mitchell, was murdered on my birthday of 2-24-1976. She had been a 19 year old nursing student at the University of Nevada, Reno.

It was hard to comprehend why an all knowing and all powerful God would allow such a thing to happen as the murder of a 19 year old nursing student. I did find Candide by Voltaire soon after this became a concern for me.

I agree about God not being mad when we doubt. After all, Jesus’ own disciples doubted. Doubt actually is a means to bring us even closer to God if we choose to explore our questioning at a deeper level.

As far as the intentions of the writers being up for grabs that is not necessarily the case. You also have to know the audience it was written for and the culture at the time it was written. If you want to go deeper into the Bible check out Catholic Productions. I especially like Brant Petri who teaches at a seminary in New Orleans. He does a “Mass Readings explained” each week and has many books, CDs and videos. Love how he goes back to the original meaning of some of the words. Also his extensive knowledge of the Old and New Testaments. He does a wonderful job of showing how the Old foretells the New and the New fulfills the Old. Really puts you on the road to a deeper relationship with God.

It sounds like the writer of Psalm 10 was very much concerned with the problem of evil.

This speaks to rebuking any fear that comes to you.....the Lord is bigger than any of that. Repeat this verse when you are challenged with fear of any kind.

Here is Psalm 91

Some call it a 911 to God (Psalm 91 verse 1)

It goes on in Psalm 91

These are reassuring words that give one a sense of protection and that God loves you and is with you at all times.

God is so good & kind.

Psalm 91 is one of my favorites. If you are familiar with the hymn "On Eagle's Wings" by Michael Joncas, it is based on Psalm 91. That is also one of my favorite hymns.

Psalm 23 also brings great comfort.
