Default When Variety Was King - Frank Peppiatt

This past Saturday I picked up a book at the Pinellas Park library titled "When Variety Was King" by Frank Peppiatt.
This autobiography recounts his life and career from his days as a writer in early Canadian radio and TV to his later career as writer and producer working with people such as Jackie Gleason, Judy Garland, Jimmy Dean, and many others. He and his partner actually created Hee Haw... one of the most successful shows in TV syndication history.
It's a well written book (hey... he's actually a writer!) and it moves along nicely.
His personal life was as interesting as his professional one.
The book was interesting enough that I started reading it Saturday around noon and returned it Monday morning.
The price was right... it's available at the library.
