No, it's NOT a political reference.

It's a movie that all the haters/bigots/racists in this country...should be MADE to watch.

It's about a man, whose personal ideals/integrity/bravery and willingness to stand up and take unimaginable hate & anger aimed at himself, simply because of the color of his skin...puts almost all of the rest of us to shame.

I ABSOLUTELY agree!

I'm just kicking myself, that it took so long...for me to find and watch it.

Great movie and a life lesson! Also, I have twice seen the "Jackie Robinson Story" from 1950, in which Robinson played himself. When will they (we) ever learn?

THAT...is the question.

I guess, in my wishfulness and naiveté, I thought that we had made good progress in this century...but it looks like I was wrong.

That is a very good movie. 42 (2013) - Rotten Tomatoes

And it is fitting that Chadwick Boseman played Jackie Robinson and the Black Panther. Chadwick Boseman - Rotten Tomatoes

I have to agree with you in light of what's been going on.

Two steps forward and three steps back.

Sadly, I doubt we will ever see much of a change in our lifetime.

2019 is the 100th anniversary of Jackie Robinson's birth.

Quote of Jackie Robinson: "I'm not concerned with your liking or disliking me... All I ask is that you respect me as a human being."

As a kid I was a Brooklyn Dodger fan. Jackie was my favorite. I batted like him, though not nearly as well. His color was never a factor in my admiration of him. I never thought of him as being different other than the fact that he was better than most of the other players. And certainly more exciting. A class guy who elevated the game of baseball. There's never been anyone like him. A true American hero.

I agree...Jackie Robinson was a trail blazer and a pioneer in the game of baseball.
