Can't believe it was 50 years ago.

Budget of $9 million and box office of $475 million!

Dreyfuss is still alive. Only 77.

Jaws (film - Wikipedia)

Great movie … lived in Rockaway and spend summers at the beach. Jaws was an eye opener to many, but didn’t affect most from using the ocean.

That is an incredibly fast shooting star. Looks more like a tracer bullet.

Seems to be shooting star from the direction it is coming from--upper far right -- and then coming down to far left. I saw a shooting star about a year ago over a house in the Villages and it came and was gone in about two seconds. Streak of green heading south. I just happened to look up at the right moment. It was being tracked along the East Coast of the US.

Funny thing is that back then there were no great whites on the Cape and Islands, including Martha’s Vineyard, where Jaws was filmed. Since then, the bounty on seals was lifted and the seal population has exploded, attracting numerous great white sharks. Now, Jaws is actually a real thing there and great white encounters with swimmers and surfers are an annual event. Three years ago my wife and I watched a great white create a bloody scene hitting a seal off the beach in Truro, MA.

My family had a summer home in Quogue, Long Island, NY. The summer Peter Benchley wrote Jaws, he was in Quogue. Many things in the book are in Quogue. He may have said Martha's Vineyard, but the book was written about Quogue. That would explain why there were no Great Whites in MA

I'll never forget seeing it, my boyfriend and I went to the theater in Darien, CT. There were only a few seats left and they were in the very front row..... it was terrifying!
