Default Dune (2021)

Dune - Rotten Tomatoes

This quite good but looks it is only Part 1.

Gets pretty good reviews. But, being a big fan of the book, I thought it was disappointingly mediocre.

I'm a fan of the books and have read the first several a few times. I enjoyed the old film and then the later mini-series but found this new film to be incredibly good, miles ahead of its predecessors. I really look forward to the subsequent film (or films, if it were up to me, as I'd like to see Children of Dune and God Emperor Dune made as well but doubt that will happen). Even my wife, who has never read the books, could follow the complex story, enjoyed the incredible visuals, the great acting and the very decent dialogue. We both thought Paul was played perhaps a little too emo but loved all the other leads. Maybe he'll grow into the roll in Part 2.

Thought the books were awesome but the first movie a disaster.

Not sure if a movie could ever do justice to the books.

Just like Catch 22 was one of the best books I have ever read but movie was just pathetic.

It seems like the kind of movie you'd want to see in a theater. We're such hardcore scifi geeks, we actually liked the original. Wish they'd bring it back to Sumter, so we could see it without the 45 min trip to Ocala. I think it was actually there for about an hour on a Thursday afternoon one time, but by the time I heard about it, it was gone. Meanwhile "West Side Story" and "American Underdog" have been playing the OMT long enough to achieve permanent resident status.

Dog will probably be at the Old Mill Playhouse almost to Summer.
