I'd go with The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance as 1, The Dirty Dozen as 2, and The Professionals as 3.

Default Paint Your Wagon

Lee Marvin in a comical role was different for him and he pulled it off.
Liked the way he played the bad guy, but as a WW2 marine vet he was a hero not a villain.

He has been in some very good movies. What is your favorite?

The Dirty Dozen would be mine.
Death Hunt with Bronson and TV show M Squad.

I would second the M Squad, early tv at it's best. Old Man Daley banned all movies and shows from filming in Chicago because he didn't like the way M Squad portrayed the city.
