When Doc Holiday is dying (in Tombstone) he asks Wyatt what he wants. Wyatt replies "A normal life". Doc tells him "there's no such thing as ' a normal life'--there's just life".

One of the best lines I've ever heard.

Guess I don't have the quote quite right but we all get the idea. RIGHT?

It should be: "Badges? We ain got no badges. We dun need no badges. I dun have to show you any steekin badges!!" Still love the movie and I use garbled version constantly.

Thanks for the link. It was fun hearing it -- been a few years.

Ugh. Pick you feet in Poughkeepsie??? Was that really in a movie. How gross.

Being a Mel Brooks Fan, and since he's my cousin, I say it is:

"It's great to be the King!!!

Oh, **** Boy, Oh, **** Boy!! "

Remember that, History of the World Part I, he never wrote Part II and I was very disappointed.

Another Linda:

To me, that whole beach village attack was a 15 minute recap of the Vietnam war; it was like it was written in Hollywood by John Wayne and Elmer Fudd.

I personally water skied the Mekong River and had to stay on the near side bank because the other bank was VC territory (and deforested by Agent Orange) and dodged floating mines doing it - water skiing; swam in the Saigon Headquarters command recreational pool and stayed off the high dive platform because of the VC snipers. There was a rec center golf course where some of the holes were off limits because they were VC territory - who could make this up but Hollywood?

Chuck -- Unreal! I'm a former Army nurse and my husband a former Army doc. We had easy assignments. I should say physically easy and safe, but mentally something else. We were at the evac hospital at Brooke where we watched and cried and did what we could -- sometimes enough, sometimes not. And now one of my sons is an Army doc. History repeating itself.
