They do that! Sometimes I am not sure if it is Saturday or Sunday and I am not a drinker. Plus, I tape a lot of shows so I cannot tell if it is Saturday by watching Saturday Night Live as I often do not see it until Wednesday and sometimes they repeat it on another day of the week in a shortened version.

No, I didn't but I got a friend of mine hooked on the show. He loves it.

I have heard that from people here in the Villages and elsewhere. I volunteered at the Veterans' Hospital in Reno, Nevada for a year of Saturdays around 1976-1977 to see if I wanted to go into medicine. This was in the intensive care unit across from the psychiatric wing. The nurses there heard that I had an art show at Earl Wooster High School and suggested I draw the patients. There was an excellent photographer of people visited the Veterans' Hospital. I would borrow these snapshots and draw them for the patients. I must have done 20 or so of these. Unfortunately, many of the patients in the intensive care were on their last months of life. They still kept the pictures up of the people who had passed and also recruited an art student to draw the patients who came after I left.

We had patients in 1977 from the Spanish American war through the Vietnam era. The Vietnam era patient had had a pool stick thrust into his brain after he had decided to imitate a walrus and some extremely stupid friend decided to bump into him as a joke.

That reminds me of something: He must have acquired a taste for chocolates and other high calorie treats etc. because he gained a lot of weight and was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I don't have TV but I heard him talking about it on the radio. He said he weighed less than 100 pounds in high school. And judging by his latest movie he must have at least doubled that weight.

There may be some truth in the saying, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get." But one thing is for sure: If you eat a lot of high-calorie processed foods and sweets, you raise your risk for weight gain and diabetes.

Maybe we need a new saying: "Life is like a box of chocolates, eat enough junk and you're likely to gain weight and get diabetes."

It sounded like his weight fluctuations for the roles he had were a significant factor in bringing about his Type II Diabetes. He sacrificed for his craft as many great artists have done. Does not sound like he did anything else without moderation.
