Default Just watched "Don't Look Up!"

On Netflix, if you want to watch a movie.

For those who have watched it:

Is it a comedy or political satire?
Who do you recognize anyone?
Do you see yourself anywhere in there?
Which themes did you see?

Political Comedic Satire. Is that a thing?
Maybe the English teachers out there will chime in.

I enjoyed the many jabs at governmental dysfunction and manipulation we see so much of, but I don't want offer up more opinions in fear of turning this post into a political opinion and get bumped off the forums.

I did enjoy the movie although I fell asleep the first go around. I did go back and finish it the next night. That seems to be happening to me more frequently now days.

Isn't political satire a form of comedy?

Anyway, I was planning to watch it this weekend. I've heard Jonah Hill steals the show...

I thought it was mostly a jab at the dysfuntion we are seeing in our government right now. Like, "Don't Look Up, nothing there to see". Well the ending told it all. Alot of things can be cancelled but a meteor the size of Texas coming atcha, can't cancel that!!

"Watched" the first half-hour or so. Typical Hollywood quirky-ness attempt at "humor" with political undertones. I gave up after that first 1/2 hour. Could not go on, as with some other Big-Star odd movies. So, fast-forwarded to the last 3 minutes. In the end, glad I didn't waste that 1.5+ hours. That's me, perhaps others may love.

Comedy and political satire. As with any movie some will love it some will hate it. I enjoyed it.

Did you watch the credits? If not you need to because there is another scene after the credits that wraps up the story line.

At the 30 minute mark my finger was on the off button but something told me to stick with it. It got much better after that and the real message started to unfold. Too bad they took so long to get you into it. There are actually three endings to the movie which take more than 10 minutes. The 2nd ending (for me) was the plot of the movie.

Coachk let out a huge laugh at that ending!. . .

That was pretty funny!

And you had to have seen the whole movie to get the joke. . .

Well, yes. . .
Jonah Hill was so so, there isn't any one cast member which steals the show in my opinion, as its not about class acting. . .

Its just such political satire of the current state of affairs about climate change. . . and actors are composites of famous people and particular scenes represent hot concepts in today's world. . and be sure to go to the end of the credits . . . .

My 36 yr old son-in-law gave me the quote about this being their Dr. Strangelove.

I recognized all the main actors.

I saw the movie picked up the themes of our recent political culture. Don't look up vs Look Up, splitting people for a pure political purpose. Nepotism in the executive branch. Unqualified people being nominated to SCOTUS, unqualified people running agencies because they are big donors. Presidents having affairs. Tech executives having oversized influence on politics.

There was a great deal of dark humor. I saw myself as the frustrated scientist.

I liked the ending.

Satire — so I hear.

Directed by the guy who did The Big Short and also Vice. I liked both.

Have not watched this one yet.

Might, tonight.

It is on my “must see” list. Dr. Strangelove is on my top five all-time list.
