I wish it was available to see locally for those of us that live here. Any chance it will get a showing in one of The Villages theaters

is there a link for the trailer? I haven't SEEN/FOUND IT.

Thank you for posting this review. Sounds OK — although I do wonder how a young writer can truly get it. (I know I did not get a lot of things when I was that young.)

Btw, the review says there are 180,000 people here. Please say it isn’t so. I don’t think it is that densely populated — yet, although sometimes it feels like it.

Speaking of such movies — remember Boynton Beach Club? I think that is the one where an opening scene starts the plot line when a woman backs out of her driveway without looking behind her. (When I walk through parking lots here, or anywhere, I keep an eye on the driver’s seat of parked cars.)

I might have to see if I can find Boynton Beach Club streaming now.

Kimmiek: Thank you for posting this link to the movie review. I read the review from end to end. It is interesting reading, but again reinforces my opinion that these young people missed the mark when they made this movie. There is so much more to living day to day in this community than the high school activities he centered on. The loneliness of people would be the same whether they are here or had chosen to remained in their original community.

By the way BOOMER there are 180,000 people living here and they were all on the road and at LSL yesterday:ohdear: We must seriously be approaching "full up" in TV!

I look around my little village and we all seem t be living an ordinary quiet healthy retired life and that is not what he chose to show.

I go back to my earlier post where I said that a good cinematographer could make an excellent movie about retirement.

This is what I cringe at and what I though it would be like: "This highly entertaining documentary captures the near-surrealism of a prefab senior playground, ............" Really now. "Near surreal" here? "Prefab playground."

This is supposed to be a DOCUMENTARY. It seems they use actors. If they do, it's not.

This is my favorite doc at Sundance. Beautifully captivating, from the cinematography to the sensitivity and respect for the characters: Annie and Reggie, Dennis, and Barbara, this film effects us all as it delves into real issues: aging, acceptance, love, personal challenges, grief, and fulfillment in a fascinating yet surreal place: The Villages. The director's vision and understanding of all of these issues is remarkable --especially at his young age, and the editor, music, sound, and overall production was amazing. Loved it!

I hope it is not "Hollywooded up" but most likely it will be. The actual lives of most retirees are not newsworthy or sensationalistic movie material but the "fringe" like the parasitical stealth camper leaching off the amenities such as the pools may be.

I thought it was about aging in a place that those in the film are not adapting as well as others. Not just a dressed up everything is perfect film

I don't want to belabor the point, but if the young film maker had not made these characters the center of the movie, there would be no movie, because the rest of us are just living our quiet little lives.

Had he researched the history and gone back in time to the beginning when Harold Schwartz first came here and told the story of how this development rose out of the farming area of central Florida, then I think he would have had the basis for a GREAT documentary. As I said earlier, whether you like the Morse family or not, The Village Retirement Development is a monumental achievement. There is really no where else like it in the world.
