Angry No 3-D movies in The Villages! Be advised!

Beware - The Villages theatres do not advertise that their theatres do not show 3-D. Avatar and Christmas Carol, are shown in 2-D.
I bought our tickets to see Avatar and went in, then discovered that there was no 3-D. When I asked about the glasses, they said "we did not advertise that it was in 3-D". I had to stand in line again to get a refund, then she tried to act like I was stupid. They did not advertise that it was in color, or in English either, but maybe it's too much to expect them to tell us in advance that they cannot show 3-D. It is a 3-D move! The big draw is the new 3-D technology. I guess they think we are all so stupid that we won't know the difference.
The Villages theatres should be more forthright. They should at least put a sign in the box office window.

When movie theaters run a movie which includes a 3-D version they will advertise it as "3-D." Otherwise it is shown in the traditional format.

All a person needs to know what version is being shown is to read either the movie poster (which will advertise 3-D if, in fact, it is shown in that format), or look at the marquee which will also have the "3-D" listed next to the title.

Yes... it is too bad that the theaters here in TV do not have the special equipment for projecting 3-D movies, but I wouldn't think any movie would be shown in 3-D unless it was advertised as such. I don't think all that many people are aware that Avatar and Christmas Carol were done in 3-D... I didn't. But I do think it would be much more practical for a theater to advertise a movie was in 3-D, if it is, rather than advertising the 1000's of other movies are not 3-D, which they aren't, with a sign in the window. Stupid me!

The best way to see Avatar is not only 3D but in an IMAX 3D theatre. Awesome. The story was a little whacked out for me but the IMAX 3D made it mesmerizing. Seniors get a about a $5 discount.

As a casual observer, from all the publicity, I would never think to ask.... I would just assume Avatar is in 3D. Can't miss it with all the publicity.

Haven't heard that much about Christmas Carol to have that same impression.

You will have to drive a few hours to get to an IMAX from the Villages but it seems to be worth the drive. I have been to an IMAX near the Tampa International Airport and there is one closer to the Villages in Altamonte Springs.
