Dustin Hoffman really blends into a role. Dustin Hoffman - Rotten Tomatoes

We loved it! Did not drag on and held our interest throughout. Best film we have seen in a long time. If you left after 30 minutes you missed one of the best films this year. I am not a fan of DiCaprio but he did an amazing job in this film. I would even go see it again.

yes
Meryl was Julia Childe and the Queen of England. Unlike Daniel Day Lewis who also dissolves into the role 24/7 they say Julia can turn it off as soon as the director yells cut. I watched an interview and the other actor said Julia was crying in the middle of the Holocaust scene, the director yelled cut and she immediately asked the other actor where everyone was going to eat. There is Meryl and then all the rest.
I enjoy Dustin's body of work but I always know it's him.

I just thought of something. Maybe the true sign of a great actor is that no one can do an impression of them.

Saw it this afternoon. Very hard to watch in parts but agree that it had great acting, cinematography, special effects, screenwriting, and directing.

Had the same chatty couple sitting a few chairs across from me as I had in The Hateful Eight or their doppelgangers. They must go about the same day and time as I usually go so I may have to alter my moviegoing habits a bit. https://www.talkofthevillages.com/fo...690-post9.html

Or, maybe I should start sitting somewhere else.

Don't Miss It

I saw The Revenant yesterday and I thought it was outstanding.

I won't give any spoilers here, but when the movie ended almost all the people in the audience sat there in the dark and watched the credits scroll by. They didn't want to leave their seats. It was testimony to a powerful movie experience.

I assure you that no one left early.

This seems to be based on a fictionalized novel of some true life incidents. The facts have been changed a bit for more drama. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arikara https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arikara_War

I enjoy the tid-bits you add to the conversation. You might call your self "footnotes".

Great movie!! DiCaprio really nailed it again and should come home with the Oscar this time. The power, depth and resilience of the human body and spirit is skillfully and beautifully portrayed. I found inspiration in this movie.

He should have won for The Aviator. Hopefully, this will be his year. The Aviator*(2004) - Rotten Tomatoes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/77th_Academy_Awards

Jamie Foxx was good in Ray though.

I saw The Revenant and really enjoyed it. Both Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy did some great acting. It was long, but the time passed quickly for me. The cinematography is breathtaking! It is similar to the old Robert Redford film, Jeremiah Johnson which I also enjoyed at the time. Both are realistic and brutal, but those were brutal times and reflect a brutal culture.

Just saw this again on Blu-Ray. The scenery and acting are quite good. You do have to get past the savagery of man against man.

The DVD and Blu-Ray editions of this movie came out on Tuesday, April 19, 2016.
