Default Rialto Theatre Renovation News

This is probably old news to some of you, but maybe not to all of you...

When I was at the Old Mill Playhouse this afternoon, I spoke to one of the employees, and this gentleman told me the Rialto Theatre will be closed for approximately 6 months starting sometime in October for major renovations. A Lazy Mac pizza restaurant will be opening in the lobby of the Rialto when it reopens.

This employee also told me that after the Rialto is renovated, the Barnstorm Theatre will be renovated as a Lazy Mac BBQ restaurant will be opening in that lobby. The employee told me Barnstorm Theatre will not need to close for this renovation.

I've heard of Lazy Mac Taco Shack, but not Lazy Mac pizza or BBQ. Are these singular restaurants (not part of a chain)?

I don't know the ownership of the Lazy Mac restaurants. Lazy Mac's Taco Shack has a web site, but only lists their location inside Old Mill Playhouse at LSL.

The Rialto has a Fright Fest in October. They are showing eight classic horror films through to the end of October. The last pair is Bride of Frankenstein and Dracula from October 25 through October 31, 2019.

So, I guess it will be open until the end of Halloween. Unless they shift this 2019 Fright Fest to a different venue.

I had heard rumors about the Rialto being upgraded. Couches or something like that?

I remember in the spring that they said in the newspaper the Rialto was to be closed during the summer for renovations to bring it up the standards of the other two theaters. Seems like they are running behind schedule.

The Lazy Mac Taco Shack at Old Mill Theater has been open about six months. Last time I was in there was to see Yesterday a couple of months ago and when I walked through the lobby, I thought that the Taco place stunk. I couldn't walk fast enough, I don't how people can stand that smell.

Not very good planning to be closed for 6 months, the entire season.

I'm not a resident, so my opinion counts for zero, but I was thinking the same thing...closing from October to March/April, right during the busiest season for TV. Not the best planning.

That is true. It could make the Old Mill Playhouse and Barnstorm even busier than they are.

I still wonder what they are doing to it? Would love to see it with larger screens and stadium seating but that probably would take a lot more than six months to do and a whole lot of an investment.

It will be nice to have some bigger screens at the Rialto.
