Default Robin Hood

My husband and I both felt that this was just an 'ok' movie; you can wait on this one until it comes out on video. It did not have very interesting plot, script, or character development; and even the battle and fighting scenes - which were frequent - were unconvincing and unintriguing. Russell Crowe was just ok as Robin Hood; he's been much better in other roles. Heck, even if there had been some romance and lovin' between Robin and Maid Marian that would have helped, but that was very weak. The scenery, cinematography and costuming were the strongest points.

Default Agree with Freeda. I have seen many better action movies.

I thought about inviting Mr. Boomer to ask me out on a date to go to see this one. But when I looked it up to find out when and where, I also looked at the running time....

Running time -- 158 minutes.

You might conclude that I must have the attention span of a gnat, but I don't care. A movie that is 2 hours and 38 minutes long is not going to get me through the door.

Maybe I should not automatically look at the running time of movies. But I do. And when a movie is this long, I always think it means that whoever was supposed to yell, "CUT!" -- forgot to yell, "CUT!"

Boomer B. DeMille

PS: I forgot to say that I forgive GWTW for its length. It was nowhere near as good as the book, but it's GWTW afterall so I don't give a damn how long that one is. I still watch it once in a while, every few years.

Default movie recommendations anyone?

Ms. DeMille, I love your posts, keep 'em coming.

BTW, we haven't seen a movie since "It's Complicated," which we loved. What movies would everyone recommend as really worth our time (when it comes to the dollar - oops, now $2 - movie house in Columbus?

Default You may really like Letters to Juliet if you loved It's Complicated.

Letters to Juliet is doing extremely well in the female votes on the Internet Movie Database. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0892318/ratings The male voters do not seem too impressed though.

Default Saw it

My wife and I saw Robin Hood yesterday. It was an incredibly good movie.

The ramance was first class and very moving. Not porn like most movies today with hot romance in them.

If you do not like this movie I can only guess that you had trouble understanding its remarkable direction.

The acting should be included in the Oscar nominations, but may not because the politics of taking from the rich and giving to the poor was not pomoted.

This movie did not do that well with the movie critics who do have a lot of pull on Oscar and other award nominations.
