That is a very true statement about tragedies.

I will have to watch Manchester by the Sea sometime when I am in the mood. Sounds kind of like In the Bedroom or Ordinary People.

If you knew the real Manchester-by-the-Sea you would not be surprised. It is a sleepy town located on the North Shore between Beverly and Gloucester Massachusetts. There hasn’t been any action there since the Thomas Crown Affair ran a 5 minute scene through there. Most of it was filmed where I grew up, in Beverly. But you get a longer credit if the name of the city consists of 3 hyphenated words.

The 1968 film is rated @ 79% by stupid tomatoes. I give it 100%.
I got to meet a number of the stars, and the producer.

Bah humbug! What does Stupid Tomatoes know!

Correction. It was probably The Shack that Dee Dee recommended. Another cashier talked about Manchester-by-the-Sea. I noticed Dee Dee on break yesterday and the memories clarified.

I still should watch Manchester-by-the-Sea and last year's Academy Award Best Picture Moonlight which is probably available via DVD and Blu-Ray from various Villages' area public libraries. Not a movie I would want to own though.

I hope something like The Darkest Hour or Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Minnesota wins.
