As was mentioned earlier, the movie Das Boot or The Boat in English. I've read a few books on German submarine warfare and this movie is so close to real life on a WWII German sub. In a couple scenes the crew rushes forward to the bow to add extra weigh for a faster emergency dive. Foodstuffs in every nook and cranny, tubes of salami handing from the bulkhead and the close living conditions echo everything I read in books based on interviews with actual submariners.

My dad served in the Army Air Force during WWII.
He would never talk about his service other than tell us he was in the Aleutians and Iwa Jima. .Wish I would have gotten him to talk more about what he did/ |
WWII Documentaries
I've been watching some incredible documentaries on the war on Netflicks.

In my opinion, the Pacific is the best WW2 movie, then band of brothers. Runner up is We were soldiers. Most realistic, hardly no flaws. Great special effects. Great stories. All based on true events. Just my opinion.
