Yes, John would have been 70. He was an amazing talent. A great influence on my life. IMAGINE if he were still with us?

I can't believe he's been dead for 30 years! Rest in peace John.

I also was a great fan of John Lennon and The Beatles from the first time I ever heard them at the age of 13. They changed music and the way I viewed music and in effect changed my life.

"Imagine", though I loved it at the time, I've grown less fond of. I picture John and Yoko Lennon, among the wealthiest entertainers on the planet and he's singing about "sharing the world". He kept an awful lot for himself for someone with that sentiment.
Also, as I got older, the meaning changed for me into a kind of secular and socialist message I can no longer embrace. I know he was a brilliant and people loving man, but just the same, I'll remember him more fondly for his earlier work when it comes to the music.

I loved how Google did it's logo to celebrate John Lennon's 70th birthday. It's still up today. You can click on it and hear a verse from Imagine.

I just saw a photo of John Lennon taken a few days before his death. I remember when he died I thought he looked old now after seeing this photo he looked so young. Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

My favorite was, easily, Across the Universe (Let it Be Naked version). While most rock songs are prose, that was pure poetry.

"pools of sorrow, waves of joy................"

His contributions to the music world were great. I've wondered how much we missed musically if John Lennon had not been murdered.

A great talented musician .
