Default Allman Brothers, "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed"

This is the Holy Grail for ABB fans. Not until You Tube (unless bootlegged) were we able to see this - the original Allman Brothers with Duane Allman & Bassist Berry Oakley at their fav haunt - The Fillmore East/NYC. Of course, same place they cut their epic Live At The Fillmore East album. 1971.

Double drummers were nothing new throughout music. James Brown. John Coltrane, and others. Yet, to implement that set up in a modern rock format - much less with a black guy - was unheard of.

No one can match the vibe Butch Trucks and Jaimoe created. Brother Will brought the live Allmans from The Fillmore, home from Germany, and I acted against his warnings - threaded it on his TEAC reel-to-reel. It all made sense at that time, after a few years post Beatles & Brit invasion, though he thrashed me.

Watch the two drummers work throughout the classic "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed".
