Default Great Band at Market Square last night

I went to Lake Sumter’s Market Square last night and enjoyed the music big time. I’ve heard Village people rave about Rocky and The Rollers, claiming they own The Villages. Guess what? They don’t. Just as good was Norman Lee and The Boondock Saints.

Although lead singer Norman was professional and had a great voice, the band behind was also talented. Lead guitarist Ricky Lee’s rendition of The Beatles “You Can’t Do That” was one of the best I ever heard. Ricky did other Beatle songs with perfection and an outstanding version of Badfinger’s “No Matter What.”

The group proved to be diversified as they did exceptional versions of Neil Diamond’s- America, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s-- Sweet Home Alabama, The McCoy’s – Hang on Sloopy …. I can go on and on. The band covered everything from Do-wop”, to country to Good old Rock n Roll.

An enjoyable evening. I recommend catching the show if they ever perform again in The Villages.

They've pretty much been regulars for a few years now.

I have been in TV for seven weeks. Never saw them before. To be honest, the bands I did see before, gave me no reason to rush back to Market Square. I just enjoyed the music and thought I'd pass my thoughts along. Maybe there are some Village people who hadn't seen them.

Default Thanks Tom

We aren't here all the time and are wanting to check out the different bands. Sounds like this one is one that is worth going up for. We love a good Rock & Roll band as well as R&B. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Cool

For a good rock-n-roll band, I would recommend Street Talk Live. They play both squares and Katie Belles. You just need to watch the entertainment schedules.

IMHO - Rocky & the Rollers are sooooo over-rated. (Drummer is fabulous, though).

Rocky would be the drummer ... and I think their selection of music brings back the crowds. They really aren't all that. They work up the crowd and we enjoy that.

Rocky an Norman are very good but Cactus Jack and the Cadillacs is a must see band. They were at Katie Belles this weekend and will be at Spanish Springs tonight and KBs Thursday. Another great band, Shepherds Pie will be at KBs this Friday and Saturday, a great rock band.

I'm not a big Norman Lee fan, just doesn't get me.
We like Clark Barrios a lot (Slice of Lime)
Cactus Jack
Rocky is always fun
Karen Hall when you can find her, she's not there as much

also Lenny Wilson for a jazzy night
