I have been following Leonid and Friends for a couple of years. The amazing thing is that they are from Russia. When they sing, you do not hear their Russian accent. They are experts in the cover band genre. I will certainly look up their tour calendar and see if they will be in Florida in the future.

Carpenters

I guess I never thought about how many musicians it took to make that recording. The orchestra was incredible. The singer has a very nice voice, but nobody can touch Karen. Karen's vocals aren't just pretty in this song--they are haunting and filled with emotion. When I was a kid and was having a bad day, I would lie down with my head by my stereo speaker and my bad mood was washed away by Karen's smooth, velvety voice. It was like listening to an angel on Earth.

Coolidge got to thinking about how they felt, compared to our perceptions of them. She told Bonnie Bramlett and Leon Russell about it, and they wrote the song. Bonnie and her then husband Delaney, as Delaney and Bonnie, released it as the B side of a 45 in 1969, with Eric Clapton on guitar. The next year Leon Russell had Rita Coolidge sing it at the Fillmore East during Joe Cocker’s Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour (organized and run by Russell). https://youtu.be/qpZ7BOSmO64?si=7X5_YL7I9Z03Xl00

Thanks for sharing was great. Did you hear them doing Chicago Does Anyone Really Know What Time It Is right below the Carpenter song. This band is good.

Yes...Chicago (and Genesis) are my favorite bands and they play superbly.

I would love to hear them play Lotta Love, Nicolette Larsen version. That would be fun.

Awesome Karen Carpenter! Saw them in 1979 at Oakdale Theater in Wallingford, CT. Front row seat and she shook my hand. So much great music and gone way too soon.
