I saw it first in the movie theater and was not that impressed because I already know most of the musical history of Elton John and I thought the movie took too many liberties with the order of the songs from his career.

I have recently re watched the movie on Netflix and greatly enjoyed it. You may also enjoy the Freddy Mercury/Queen movie, which I thought was more realistic. Bohemian Rhapsody.

I liked “Rocketman” though I would have preferred a docudrama as opposed to a stylized musical. “Bohemian Rhapsody” was almost perfect.

As a Elton fan back to the beginning I enjoyed it even with the liberties taken to being exact,. I did enjoy some things they pointed out as to choice of name, and his relationship in the early years with Bernie. Amazing that someone so talented cold be so successful and having all the personal problems he did and managed to survive and keep his dignity in the end. way to go Sir ELton.

We loved it, love his music, was somewhat shocked to see him perform in some of the more outrageous outfits he had, especially the old Queen one. On the other hand, it left me feeling rather sorry for him, he had led a miserable life, somewhat of his own making, but he appears to have found real happiness now ............. I hope so.

And the David Bowie biopic is conspicuously absent.

Likewise, I thought the chronology of the songs was off. Worthwhile viewing but I much preferred Bohemian Rhapsody as well.

The reason Bohemian Rhapsody was more realistic is because Brian May and Roger Taylor were heavily involved in the production.
