Default The Grammys

This morning's paper informed that singer/songwwriter Billie Eilish won four top Grammy awards last night. Wow. Since I had never heard of her I consulted the most reliable source of info on the Intarweb, YouTube, to see what I was missing. I listened to a number of her songs-one in particular had 106 million views. I was underwhelmed. She seems pleasant, has a nice voice and some interesting lyrics, but that's about it. I realize everyone has differents tastes in music but just don't understand how any of it rises to the level of 4 Grammys. Help me understand.

Last time I watched the Grammys was 1989. They started a new category, Best Heavy Metal. Metallica who was probably the top heavy metal band at the time, presented the award to the winner, Jethro Tull. That's correct, Jethro Tull. It's obvious the people voting didn't know prog-rock from metal. Haven't watched it since. As a side note, in 1991 when Metallica won for their Black Album, they thanked Jethro Tull for not releasing an album that year.

Default Billie

Like the lady claims (Deborah Dugan, deposed Grammy CEO), maybe the voting is rigged.

Tencent Holdings Ltd. is buying a 10% stake in the music giant behind Ariana Grande, Drake and Billie Eilish for €3 billion ($3.36 billion) in a deal that bolsters the Chinese internet giant's growing presence in the record industry.Dec 31, 2019
