Default Grateful Dead/Allman Brothers/Jambands

From what I've seen there doesn't seem to be any bands that cover this type of music in TV

Please tell me I'm wrong and/or point me in the right direction if possible

Thanks

Probably the closest you will get here is Penta or Uncle Bob's Rock Shop.

I get my fix here several times a year

The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park | A one-of-a-kind music park and premier campground

Most events are four-day affairs and tickets include primitive camping. Camping upgrades available for RVs.

Thanks, I figured the pickings would slim.

I actually hit that Suwanee a couple of times for the Allmans some 10-15 years ago. Great place for a fest.

Just checked it out and they have Phil and Friends coming in a couple of weeks after we head back north (talk about bad timing)

Looks like I'll be checking out Penta and Uncle Bob to get my fix

By far the best jamming guitarist that I ever saw play in the town squares is Todd Fulcher of the band "He Said, She Said". They were the one band I would schedule my time around so I wouldn't miss a show. Unfortunately, the band no longer appears to be part of the town square band rotation. I don't know this for certain, but I suspect they were dropped because the band was more appreciated by people who like good music then dancers? I will never understand why such a great band was dropped from the rotation while Scotter the DJ and a terrible disco band (I forgot the name, but I think it's Studio 77) continue to get regular gigs?

Alright then, if the powers that be are reading this, I am yet another Villager that would love to see good music at the Squares that people don't necessarily dance to.

I totally agree with you about Todd Fulcher. The chord progressions he squeezes going from the normal 1 4 5 (or whatever) are just amazing.

I hear ya, Funkman. I would love to hear prog and alternative rock at the Squares, but I wonder if I'm barking up the wrong tree. This is the Villages after all and the promoters seem to be after lowest common denominator music - music that appeals to the largest number of people.

...and anyone who thinks you can't dance to prog rock, clearly drank the wrong flavor Kool-Aid in the 1960's and 1970's.

I have never heard of the term "prog rock", but I googled it and Jethro Tull, ELO, ELP, and Yes all came up in my search. All bands I like a lot, other bands I don't really know or never listened to also came up. But I can say that any band that plays Tull or ELO in the squares would definitely get my attention.

I so miss hearing Todd play his Jimmy Hendrix version of the National Anthem, Stairway to Heaven, Europia (Santana), his original, "Cherokee Passion", a great classic guitar solo "The Messiha will Come Again", and many other great classics. He even played one of my favorite all time songs one time, "Blue Sky" by the Almond Brothers.

I would love to hear more 70’s music. Hard rock sounds like several musicians playing different songs. No rhythm, no words.

Check out Mike Abbott. Sax player.
He plays all over TV (Savannah C, Cody's, Garvinos).
His band plays in Ocala.
