(that part was not fun )

Saw Jimi Hendrix at the Fillmore East in NYC in '68 or '69 when he was playing with Buddy Miles in Band Of Gypsys. A good friend of mine from the School Of Visual Arts, where we were both students, and our girls were out and trying to decide what to do when we passed the theatre and bought tickets from a scalper for $35 each. It left me with just a coupe of dollars in my pocket, but it was worth it. It was a very exciting night.

My most vivid memory is Jimi tuning his guitar between songs as he played what sounded like classical spanish guitar riffs, and then when he was ready, bursting into "Fire". It just blew my mind, as we use to say.

I can't wait to retire to TV in about 20 short months, I am glad to see fans of 60's and 70's rock music. Do you think they will be playing it on the squares by then? I live in Atlanta and currently play guitar and sing in a classic rock cover band and was hoping to continue my talents when I get there. After all TV is getting younger by the day. I enjoy reading all of your post daily. We are coming back for another visit in two months. Can't wait!

D

Sad to say but not a chance. I did heard the Boondock Saints play Sunshine Of Your Love by Cream at SS one Sunday evening and about fell out of the chair.

Now there area number of groups that would do a very good job with Stairway To Haven but again that is wishful thinking. What better song to end a long set or evening with.

Ooh it makes me wonder.

If you wanna see a kickin' band, go see Street Talk Live at LSL on Thursday evening (4/21). Lots of late 60's, 70's, 80's and later.... I haven't heard any Hendrix or Zeppelin yet, but they play requests ????? For my money, they have Rocky and the Rollers beat by a l o n g shot!

See you a the square....
