"Paradise By The Dashboard Light" is on my top 10 for sure. I believe Todd Rundgren produced it. Remember the first time I heard it, I was at my shop and I stopped the machine to listen. Saw him in concert a few years ago. Terrific concert. Wonder what it would take to have Meatloaf (Harvey Ado) play at The Savannah Center.

Love this song and have seen Meatloaf in concert. Was the only time I ever saw my husband let loose and sing and act out at a wedding.

Yes, I love the song too. It's very clever. |
Meatloaf?
I'm sorry, but the video (of Meatloaf) ruined it for me. My imagination was loads better. No one else noticed this?

Maybe you were expecting Robert Redford?

I love Paradise by the Dashboard Light. I also love everything by Dr. Hook, especially Sylvia's Mother!

Meatloaf is not...well, I wouldn't call him...uh...classically handsome. Perhaps a haircut? |

This is all time great album style rock and roll - it was so good that AM radio stations played it despite its length (and still do). I love the story of how Todd Rundgren supposedly tricked Phil Ruzutto into doing the baseball play-by-play by not telling him that it was a metaphor for sex. I read once that some Boston radio stations produced an alternate version of the song with a Red Sox announcer performing the baseball part. It's on my "All Time Classics" playlist in my ipod.

For our 25th wedding anniversary we went to Las Vegas and were remarried by Elvis in the Graceland Chapel. During the vows Elvis asked me if I "want her, need her and love her". I looked at him and told him "Elvis, like Meatloaf said 'Two out of three ain't bad'." He cracked up.
I have Bad out of Hell album and Bat out of Hell 2 on my Ipod. |
