RIP Chick! As a pianist myself, I became a fan of his long ago at age 22, yikes that just 47 years ago. Such sad news he was truly one of the greats! pianists/keyboard musicians. I remember I was at a Stanley Turrentine Freddie Hubbard Concert waiting to begin and the promoters were playing over the PA system Chick playing Spain.

Now we look at the younger generation playing Chick's "Spain."

Jazz-rock fusion legend. Thank you for the joy you gave us, Chick. Never to be forgotten.

He played the Village Vanguard quite a bit even as a young musician you knew he was something different up there now with Miles, Sonny Rollins, Coltrane and Dizzy of course miles may not be up there RIP

Return to Forever was my introduction to great jazz. A music teacher at my former high school used to write to Chick who would send him sheet music.

Sad to see him go. We saw him 3 times in the last several years. Newport Jazz Festival twice and then at Longwood Gardens near Philly.

Went with a friend when in my early 20s to see him. I didn't realize until later what talent I had seen. RIP.
