Default R.I.P. Ric Ocasek

Ric Ocasek, lead singer and founder of The Cars, was found dead in his home in NYC today. He was 75. The Cars were a great band, very popular while I was in high school and college.

Unfortunately when so many older acts are performing again, the Cars haven't been able so much because Benjamin Orr, who sang Drive (their biggest hit) and Just what I Needed (their first hit) died back in 2000 of cancer. Rik sang lead on about a 1/3 of their songs and they have performed a handful of times with him handling all the vocals. They had a lot of hits for a new wave band, one of my favorites.

A great band; kind of quirky and times, but still a great band.
