Clearly many of you did not lose a beloved family member-who had NO comorbidities-to Covid-19. And clearly many of you don’t have family members working in hospitals caring directly for Covid patients...risking their own lives. Maybe talk to one of these healthcare workers that has been the only one who can hold that patients hand when they’re terrified, because the patients spouse & children can’t come into the hospital because of Covid.
It’s hard for me to understand that so many people can believe this isn’t an actual concern, unless they truly live in a ‘bubble’ and don’t know anyone who has been directly impacted by this very real pandemic.

Happens every month
Antique car show. Cars from all over come to participate. People vote for the best of the show. Really great for car buffs. Surprised you did not know about this. You must be new to The Villages

fjbruning@hotmail.com 11-22-2020 09:08 AM

Exactly

I don't know how many times I have posted the same reply to similar threads. If you are afraid stay home. Food can be delivered to your house. Medications can be delivered as well. If a big crowd of people comes my way, I just move 6 feet away. It's not rocket science.

An obvious question is how you could have driven by the Square when the streets were closed off? And ZERO parking spots? Are you sure you were at Spanish Springs.

21 new virus cases in TV yesterday, the day of the cruise-in. I decided not to go, prefer not to be case number 22 or MORE.

richs631 11-22-2020 09:24 AM

The CDC has been saying for many years that smoking and second hand smoke kills may more people every year than Covid. Why isn’t smoking banned? Could it be that it’s was all political

christine J Toft 11-22-2020 09:25 AM

WOW, if you'd like to die, go right ahead. I for one actually care about the others that you may infect. Not everyone want to die from this thing. But feel free. You may save others in doing so.

The restrictions they are asking for to try and curb COVID are very similar to those they have for smoking. No smoking indoors, no smoking outdoors in crowded places like stadiums or DisneyWorld, no smoking on public transit. All those places where smoking is banned are places we should be wearing masks or avoiding entirely. And it’s pretty much for the same reason, second hand smoke can harm others. People who are infected but don’t know it yet can infect others if they don’t wear a mask.

It is banned in enclosed spaces and all buildings.

Rule of thumb, if NO ONE is wearing a mask is not a current picture from 2020!!!

Iowagirl2 11-22-2020 09:44 AM

I was there last night and those pictures were not from last night. We didn’t have a food truck and those umbrellas in the picture weren’t there along with the greenery to the entryway of the square. It was not as busy as these pictures show.

Same crazy ridiculous situation in Sumter landing. Went to pick up curbside Japanese food and couldn't believe the traffic and no parking spaces available and traffic jams at 6 o'clock at night . This is one of the primary reasons that the pandemic is getting worse and not better. As long as there are people not believing the science not wearing masks not social distancing many many more thousands of Americans will die . I for one will do everything in my power to believe the science social distance wear a mask and let my opinion be known.

Even if someone posts pics from 10 years ago, people will still think that nobody was wearing masks, because they don’t care...

SusanKD 11-22-2020 09:52 AM

Yes I would feel safe. It’s outside in the fresh air. If you are not comfortable then stay home. Everyone needs to make choicesbasic on their own comfort level.

Agree!

chris.noland 11-22-2020 09:56 AM

If NO ONE is wearing a mask the picture is not current and it is not a super spreader event.

Fisherman - I respect your freedom to state your views. With regard to speculating on my situation - no, my strong lock-down state - did not have a high COVID outbreak - at any time. Our Gov decided to lock everything down. From my experience - being forced to stay in my home with no human contact - equates to no life and no purpose - to me, it is not living. Based on your opinion - it seems like you would love living in a state with strict lock downs. FYI - home prices and availability are abundant in lock-down states outside of FL (decent weather - I moved from a state with negligible snow and ice (never experienced once while I was there) - and lots of 55+ active communities!!).
We all face *NON* COVID virus related risks every day (other viruses are rampant contributing to cancer, poor habits that contribute to heart issues and stroke, driving on roads where there are drivers who are drunk,....) yet - we have learned to live and either made adjustments to what we do -or- accepted life w/the risks. Staying in a strict lock-down state was impacting my mental and physical health - and I took action to avoid that risk to my life. You have that same choice. Again, I want to be available to anyone who needs help -e.g., supplies, someone to talk to, ..... I know a lock-down (state or self imposed) can be severely debilitating and life threatening.

SusanKD 11-22-2020 10:02 AM

And that is your CHOICE to stay away!

collie1228 11-22-2020 10:02 AM

We were there and cut our visit very short due to the lack of any social distancing or use of masks. The crowd was very large at 6:00PM, especially inside the square. It just astounds me when I see a crowd of this size with very few masks and standing/dancing closely. We left the square and had an outside dinner at the Mexican restaurant. It will be interesting to see if this was a super-spreader event. We'll know in a week or so. Hope not, but I'm not hopeful.

There are those who think the danger of catching Covid-19 and becoming sick or dying is past.

You cannot modify ANYONE's behavior other than your own. Not with information, rules, laws, pleas, or good example.

I know that the vaccine will be offered very soon. I will wait a little longer to mingle with folks and smile into their eyes.

Then many of us will have to wear a bra again, ;) but I am so looking forward to being among others safely.

Then we will all find something else to argue about.

Thank you ! There are too many unanswered questions about this just as it’s a mutation of other Coronas strains ! The common thread between everyone.

merrymini 11-22-2020 10:47 AM

I am sick of hearing about it.
I am sick of hearing from the dark side.
I am sick of people who are so eager to give up their freedoms because of media panic news.
I am sick of hearing from a bunch of old geezers who think they will live forever.
I am sick of hearing people tell me not to enjoy family for Thanksgiving.
In keeping with the holiday, they can “stuff it.”

Mr. Law 11-22-2020 10:54 AM

No parking spaces and they want to build apartments there. Where would those tenants park??

Davelinda91 11-22-2020 11:04 AM

We were there, yes there were a lot of people crowding around the cars. I did not feel comfortable even with my mask on since others were not wearing theirs. I found a way to move and social distance and still enjoy walking around and enjoy the music even though I could See everything I was Able to hear everything. Find what makes you comfortable.

Usually the band is one the top 5 groups, such as Rocky & the Rollers, Johnny Wild & the Deelites, The Hooligans, Uncle Bob's Rock Shop and couple of others. They'll sometimes add a third beer stand, a portable tent on the north side of the square. Some of the food trailers will be there such as Bobalou's BBQ, my favorite. I believe today was the first Cruise-in since last March.

NOT a MASK "one" among those hundreds of SHEEP (that so sadly brought THEMSELVES to market). Talk about peer pressure!.... Old and infirm - they dragged their "conforming" carcasses to the entertainment square - AKA slaughter zone - to escape their boring lives and be comforted by the close-quarters infected bodies of their fellow SHEEP.
.........And where did they get such high motivation to turn themselves into the "walking dead" of SHEEP? Maybe from some special TV programming or social media fantasy? Or possibly, from some strange harbinger of DEATH that was playing a round of golf lately - round man playing a round, sound familiar? Powerful propaganda forces are at work!

I made a copy of that square picture to remind myself of the old-time warning of, "man's inhumanity to man". The individual man / woman cares NOT one small thought about the consequences of maskless bumping close to another human being and the smiling transmission of a deadly disease to each other - droplets of CV were flowing like rain, not rain from God, but rain from hell! That picture and the actions of uncaring TV Landers saddens me for America's future. What have we become? Maskless North Dakota has the highest mortality rate per capita in the WORLD. Can a stubborn, uncaring maskless TV Land be far behind?

ScottS 11-22-2020 11:10 AM

It’s better to live on your feet, than die on your knees! If anyone has ever wondered how a society was able to round up an entire group of Jewish people, or how and why the Berlin Wall was built. You need look no further than outside your window. That is what is going on in today’s society, and you maskers are standing idly by and allowing it. You should be ashamed. Oh also, please stop beating this dead horse and move on!
