Daytime radio was WTLB in Utica, NY. Nighttime station was always NY's WABC with Cousin Brucie and Co. Did we really learn all those great 50's/60's songs while listening to that low quality AM radio? Hard to believe today, as I listen to my Serius/XM stereo satellite radio in the car, which has better sound than most any high-end stereo system from those days.

You could understand it, but your parents couldn't.

early radio

While growing up in the NE of New Jersey we listened to AM radio because thats all there was. WABC of course, radio towers were close by near Lodi and Hasbrouck heights. Listened at night to WINS,(Murry the K) WBLS (Jocko), and at times Zacherlie. Later as FM became popular WCBS-FM was the oldies station of choice. Super sunday night show, The Doowop shop with Don K Reid. I always loved the sound of the era and like listening to WVLG-AM in the Villages now. During all those years I collected those tunes and now I have them all on my MP3 player. Listen to them at home, in the car and golf cart. I also belong to the Doowop club in the Villages. I run the website for the club. WWW.doowopinthevillages.blogspot.com.
Enjoy the music!
