Re: What's your favorite song? Sung by whom?
I have a long list of favorite songs, depending on my mood at the moment, but they include several Willie Nelson songs (Crazy, Forgiving You is Easy, On the Road Again), a few Grateful Dead ones (Box of Rain, Playin in the Band) and a lot of Sinatra. I also like Steely Dan (Hey Nineteen, My Old School) and Van Morrison (Moondance, Brown Eyed Girl, Into the Mystic). A true favorite? I'll have to sleep on that one wav

Re: What's your favorite song? Sung by whom?
Crazy is good, but not by Willie. Got to go to the original by Patsy Cline. Now for Willie it's Always on my mind and The city of New Orleans. Now if I go back to my mis-spent youth, you have to remember driving down the road at XX mph, an open beer, and "Wipe Out" vibrating the car windows.

Barb and Oshun,
Kind of weird, I didn't think anyone remembered or liked So Rare. That's one of my real favorites. F16, I played Malaquena in a junior high school band contest. Never forgot it. Another one at the contest was Mavourneen (spelling?) that I've haven't heard since. brings back some memories. |

Re: What's your favorite song? Sung by whom?
Tough question. To many favs to list and the list changes.
But few come to mind but just scratching the surface: Best guitar solos - Eric Johnson "Cliffs of Dover" and Joe Santriani - "Surfing with the Alien". Blues - Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - "Earth Jam" and Stevie Ray Vaughn - "Cold Shot" and SRV's rendition of "Voodoo Child". Rock/Pop - James Taylor "How Sweet It Is", "Sweet Baby James". Classical - Bolero and Pachelbel Canon in D Major Country- All of Patsy Cline and in particular Blue Bayou", Johnnie Cash "I've Been Everywhere" and speaking of Willie - "Mammas don't let your babies grow up to be Cowboys" and "Ghost Riders in the Sky" and Marty Robbins - "Come a Little Bit Closer". Folk - Peter, Paul and Merry - "Leavin", Simon an Garfunkle - "Sounds of Silence". Swing - Manhattan Transfer - "Boy From New York City" and "Route 66". Bluegrass - "Wildwood Flower". Many more. |
Re: What's your favorite song? Sung by whom?
Good list John
I thought I had all of Patsy Cline and don't ever recall her doing Blue Bayou. Linda Rondstat (sp) did it really great. I did it on the golf course with one of my drives today. (blew by you) ;D. But anyway, there are so many great songs it is really difficult to pick one. Other great one's. "Solitary Man" and "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond, Allison Kross "When you say Nothing at All". John Denver "Annie's Song" and "Country Road", Elvis Presley "My latest Flame" and many others. Perhaps an easier question would be "Name your favorite artist or group" But I for one would be challenged to name just one. How about, you are stuck on a deserted island and have a CD player but only one CD which has music by only a single artist. Who would you pick? |

In my earlier post I mentioned Pachelbel's Canon in D Major. Here's a video of LAGQ's rendition of Pachelbel's "Loose" Canon. If you have not heard of LAGQ, they are a Grammy Award winning classical guitar quartet. Their timing is extremely precise to create their astonishing sound. These guys are really having fun playing not one but several variations of this wonderful classical piece and you'll be pleasantly surprised what they expertly weave into the fabric of Pachelbel's Canon. If you love musical virtuosity, you'll love this. Enjoy.

I love being in Florida again ... I hate that I don't have my personal PC because on my work laptop, I am denied access to listen, to what I know would have me rockin', the links everyone has provided in this thread. >:( I'll have to listen later once I am done working ... Ok, I know typing this post means I'm not working at this very moment. *grin* But I'm on lunch break, ok? *chuckle*
I can't pick a favorite song either! I found myself saying "Oh yes! I love THAT song, too!", over & over while reading the posts. *LOL* However, I am an avid Beatles fan. Love Bonnie Rait ... and a lot of Folk artists. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE CSN&Y's DejaVu album!!! Rebekah |

All time favorite song is "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers. Great concert! Love the Eagles, partial to 50, 60 & 70's. Having been born in the late 50's I heard a lot of Elvis, my mother and grandmother were smitten with him - it must have stuck to me as well. I love to hear anything Elvis!

WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMAN by the one and only Percy Sledge....memories
Also...EVERYBODY LOVES SOMEBODY....Dean Martin |
I think that it is "Woman" by John Lennon. Tomorrow it might be something different, like "Darlin' Be Home Soon" by the Spoonful.

Kashmir by Led Zeppelin.

This one has stuck in my mind for years and years and years. My parents and grandparents used to have all of these songs on ...remember 78 RPM records. Enjoy this one, Moonglow (theme from Picnic-1955) check out William Holden and then, Kim Novak dancing. Now there were some serious actors at that time. Enjoy!!
