I'll take you home again, Kathleen; Rihanna; Peg O' My Heart; Maggie May; Layla (well - is that a woman or a man?); Come on Eileen; Eleanor Rigby; Sarah; to name a few... What country do you live in....

Considering that it is the title track from "Layla and Assorted Love Songs" that Eric Clapton wrote to proclaim his love for Patti Harrison (the wife of his friend, recording partner & Beatle ... George Harrison) ..... I think we can assume Eric meant it to be a woman's name. ;-) At least one other song on that album (Bell Bottom Blues) was an ode to Patti.

After Patti left George and married Eric (George attended the wedding, those crazy rock stars!) .... Eric wrote "Wonderful Tonight" for her.

In 1962 there was a Billboard #12 hit "Close to Cathy" by a guy named Mike Clifford. It was his only Top 40 hit. You can find it on YouTube. I thought it was awful.

All these songs, but not one mention of "Son Of Suzy Creamcheese" by The Mothers Of Invention. So now I'll mention it.
