This is the part of the "apology" that got to me;

"An ABC source said the video was difficult to verify because the person who sent it described security concerns, as well as a sensitive position along the border."

So they ran with it even though it couldn't be verified. Nice.

That is amusing.

People make mistakes. These latest do not seem to be planned and strategic misdirections of the truth.

Also just wanting to clarify for blueash - Kurdistan isn't really a specific place, or a country. It is a region within four different countries that share a border, where the Kurds live. Kurd is not a nationality. Kurds can be Iraqi, Turkish, Syrian, or Iranian. So by saying Turkey is destroying Kurdistan, you're basically saying Turkey is destroying itself.

That's not what's happening (Turkey isn't trying to destroy itself) but it's important to get accurate data to form meaningful opinions.

What is happening is an attempt at genocide against the Kurds, in addition to a Turkey/Syria war.

I had an Iraqi friend at the U of Denver Graduate School of Librarianship and Information Management in 1983-1984. He was from the U of Mosul Library. One of his main targets of jokes were the Kurds. He was a Sunni I am fairly certain. Saddam Hussein - Wikipedia The Difference between Shiite and Sunni Muslims and Why It Matters

He went back to Iraq and we corresponded for a few years. It stopped though as his attitudes towards the West got uglier and uglier.

Not sure what happened to him. He seemed to be alive in 2012 or so but I could not find much about him after ISIS took Mosul and pretty much destroyed the U of Mosul Library.

The wars in Iraq have a lot of lies attached to them. Many of them seemed very deliberate.

The topic was about a media outlet using an unverified source for a video that was broadcast.

More replies have been removed than remain as the discussion turned into a political debate.
