Default New Series of Magnum PI

I watched most of it. Right away it did not have that amazing beauty of Tom Selleck and his slow measured speech that gave the old series it's first magnetism to me years ago. I see a very buff young British Woman taking the part of The British guy (I can't think of his name right now) That sort of is a new wrinkle.

There was a certain humor to it back then and I remember really enjoying it in the original form. This one not so much. Will try again next week.

What do you think?

I watched it. It will certainly take some getting used to the new cast, especially a female Higgins. I don't know if it will make it with those of us who were fans of the original Magnum.

I thought it was wonderful that the original Higgins was a Texan in real life. I always assumed he was British. He did the accent perfectly.

i know different actors/actresses play the same roles all the time but i just can't see Thomas Sullivan Magnum IV as anyone but Tom Selleck. Are they shooting it on location at least? It's not Toronto passing for Hawaii I hope.

We watched it, and I couldn’t get past Magnum looking so different/not as handsome. I told husband, and he said something like “you’re not the target audience. It could be that 30-somethings think he’s a hunk.” Rats.

I also pictured the British chick with a mustache.

Sigh.

Fair.
Too serious. Missed opportunity to bring back just the mustache, and get rid of the scruffy look. New lead too short, and not handsome enough. Voice over voice not memorable/ unique.

A brick of gold weighs 25 lbs. They tossed them around like they were (are) styrofoam.
4/10

Not a regular network viewer of anything but we wanted to see the new show. We will continue to watch it. Higgins real life sister is Honeysuckle Weeks who, played Sam on Foyles War.

Still watching Magnum PI but mainly just for the Hawaii scenery.

Did not even try watching the new Magnum, or the new Hawaii 5-0 either. They need to just stop remaking classic TV shows and movies, in my opinion. I hate constant remakes.

Didn't watch the new show that was gonna be Roseanne. I didn't like the old show with Roseanne. I heard that it was an attempt to showcase as many diverse kinds of character as possible. I don't want to be politically "guided" or goaded when I watch TV, I want to be entertained.

Why is nothing really, really, funny like Carol Burnett and Harvey Korman or really, really entertaining and fun like Johnny Carson????? I am so tired of poor writers, low budgets and constant commercials.

I do find relief on PBS with some of the Acorn presentations but a few are difficult to understand; either the dialogue is too Aussie or the sound goes down at odd times.

Now I feel better. Got THAT out of my system. Who knew I would get old-er and really relish TV programs.

I am very critical about remakes, but this one is well made and has good plots. So far, I have watched every episode and I think they are excellent.

Watched three episodes. Just could not buy the players trying to emulate the original.

Hawaii 50, however has turned out to be a very good, well written episodes with plots that hold one's attention and the characters acceptable because (to me anyway) they do not spend time trying to be the original.
