I met him once when he came to my college for some kind of symposium on El Salvador. He was a leftie but the old school kind who was intelligent and reasonable. Unfortunately, they are a dying breed, literally. RIP, Lou Grant (and also his late career turn as Santa Claus in the wonderful, new-age, Christmas classic, "Elf")

loved his character 50 years ago. His extreme politics, however, turned me off

He was the most liberal actor leftist in Hillywood. Tried to destroy so many conservative values.

i have to keep his political views out of mind when i consider his work as an actor, AND as an animal welfare spokesman. RIP

He was a socialist-leaning toward communism. A Lefties lefty. Not a good guy.

Just think. One less vote for a Socialist Government. He was funny but he had to hate the America we lived in. Shame on him and all the Socialists in Hollywood.
