Thumbs up Star Trek: Discovery.

Star Trek: Discovery | Official Site | Trailer and Cast Info - CBS.com

Liked the first episode of this new series but probably not enough to subscribe to the platform showing the subsequent episodes.

Agree. Not interested in paying extra. Did not care for the bridge cast, too much informality. Klingons were awful ...looked like Planet of the Apes. Could not understand their dialogue. The camera angles overall were not pleasing.

My wife and I are long-time Trek fans and caught the first episode and weren't totally knocked out. On the other hand, we remember that it took well into the second season for The Next Generation to actually become good.

We're also watching the Trek-inspired semi-comedic "The Orville" and are surprised to find that it has excellent special effects and pretty decent stories. The casting and rather forced occasional humor does throw things off a bit.

Not in the same league as prior series; not even close.
Very stiff/amateurish actually.

Hate the new Klingon look. Seems as if the Klingons are devolving rather than evolving, considering this was pre-Enterprise ... or too much interspecies commingling since Enterprise, etc. Klingons were a tad more human? Otherwise, was okay but agree not worth paying a streaming price.

I'll wait till it shows up on Netflix. As to "Orville", ratings dropping through the floor. Don't waste your time.

A combination of several Trek shows, characters, technology thrown in with a taste of Family Guy. Getting hooked and look forward to see where it goes.

You can always tell a poor movie or tv show when the background music plays continuously. To me it sounds like they know its not going well and someone says "add background music maybe that will help"

Looong time Trekker, and I was willing to give Discovery a try. I don't like the new Klingon look, but I'm willing to let them look more alien. I don't care for the ship, it's too dark. I probably won't see any more of it unfortunately, because I won't pay extra to. The Orville is fun, light, and surprisingly reminiscent of Next Generation. I enjoy it.
