Default Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Needs You!

The Community Emergency Response Team is a nationwide organization that trains citizens about disaster preparedness as well as how to provide initial assistance to their families, neighbors & community at The Villages major events and during large medical emergencies and disasters (such as hurricanes and tornados). CERT members are taught to render first aid & auxiliary services until professional emergency responders arrive on the scene. New members must complete a 36 hour course of classroom & hands-on instruction in the areas of: disaster preparedness, fire safety, search & rescue and medical operations (including CPR, AED & the Heimlich maneuver). No special skills are required to join CERT … we will teach you! As The Villages continues to grow, so does the need for more CERT members throughout our community. Our next Basic Training Course Class is February 6 thru March 17. All classes will be from 9-noon, Mondays & Fridays at the Bacall Rec. Center. To sign up or for more information, please call (note, phone number is not active yet) 674-2948 or visit our website at certofthevillages.org. Or download the attached PDF form.

CERT is unique in that we train for the worst, but hope we’re never needed. However, the skills learned by our members can be used in everyday life & we hope our efforts help ensure that living in The Villages remains a safe & enjoyable lifestyle. Print, fill out & mail in the application ahead of the first class.

We also have a lot of fun!
