WOW!!! that's a lot to unpack here. Time to drill down on this. Background: According to Sumter County Gonzalez Ln is a dead end street and there are only 11 homes...10 plus Mary's. All but 3 homes have limited street frontage....Here's what was posted by Mary.

1. Mary Shields...the poster claims her "neighbors need advice...(Mary does not need advice)
2. Then in the next sentence, Mary claims "One of our neighbors is an issue". (it is vague if the offending party even lives on Gonzalez)
3. Then in the next sentence, Mary testifies these problem neighbors (who the neighbor needs advice about...not her) have some sort of remote control device, and someone has actually observed them activating this remote device triggering water sprinklers....but she is not specific on who actually observed it.
4. Then in the next sentence Mary injects there is a vulnerable adult who walks her dog. We only know this person walks by the offending neighbor, but it is unclear where this is.
5. Then Mary states an unknown group of neighbors are now fearful of these offenders to the point they move to the other side of the street. She does not specify if these are additional neighbors, or the ones who need help prompting the OP, or if this even happens on Gonzalez.
6. Finally Mary makes the claim the offending neighbor is now stalking other people....from the privacy of their own home.

NOPE!!!! way to inconsistent. Kind of like "many people are saying" ....I call B.S. on the whole post:blahblahblah:

Ahh.....Definition of a "Karen"
WHAT DOES KAREN MEAN?

Karen is a pejorative slang term for an obnoxious, angry, entitled, and often racist middle-aged white woman who uses her privilege to get her way or police other people’s behaviors.

As featured in memes, Karen is generally stereotyped as having a blonde bob haircut, asking to speak to retail and restaurant managers to voice complaints or make demands, and being an anti-vaxx , Generation X soccer mom.

In 2020, Karen spread as a label used to call out white women who were captured in viral videos engaging in what are widely seen as racist acts.

When I walk my dogs I try to teach them to get out of the street when a car or golf cart or even a biker, so we step up just outside of the curb and wait till they pass. This is the first time I gave heard of remote control sprinklers or motion sprinklers and if it’s the sole purpose of trying to keep people and dogs off “ your grass” shame on you. REALLY you don’t have anything else to do. Wtf. First of all that’s NOT YOUR Property . Find your property markers there about 30 ft. From the center of the road. I would do more investigating as to when it comes on and call the town to see if it’s allowed on THEIR property.

It is your property.:
Property Owners' Rights and Utility Easements | legalzoom.com

"Property owners have rights regarding their utility easements. The property owner owns the land with the easement and must pay taxes on the easement area. Usually, the utility companies don't pay anything for the use of the easement.

The utility company has the right to use the land to maintain and repair their lines, pipes, or equipment. Property owners, however, can take a utility company to court if a company abuses the easement."

Well written post. Bigger problem is OP should be concerned about is a diagnosed dementia person is allowed out on their own. We have 3 diagnosed dementia neighbors, if one is out alone, anyone who sees them contacts their spouse, or caregiver immediately, and try’s to keep them safe until help arrives.

As far as the sprinkler issue in the road, on my walk this morning 13 homes with their sprinklers were watering parts of the road. Anyone who has total control of their sprinkler water must be a genius, or never run the system

It’s not your property, stay off

Easements only mean that you can’t put anything permanent at that distance. Property owner owns and pays taxes to the street or sidewalk and has to maintain that area. Call Sumter or Lake County Police and find out about trespassing laws.

It will be interesting to see ( after all this dialogue) if the troublesome neighbor’s behavior continues.

Another justification for trespassing

The reality is, you cannot time when a dog does what a dog does...

One problem "non-dog owners" are missing is that when the sun beats down on the street, the temp can cause serious burns to a dog's feet. Try walking barefoot just off your driveway if you don''t believe me. Walking along the edge of the grass is the only safe place for them.

And I agree, those who don't clean up after their dogs are jerks.

Street too hot? No sidewalk? Dog park not conveniently located next door? Let's take fluffy for a walk through the neighborhood dog park and toilet, aka neighbor's yards[U] without ever ASKING for permission to do so. Heaven forbid, the neighbor had the nerve to show their displeasure. How rude of them to not realize dog owners are "entitled" to use other folks homes and property for their own purposes.

Is my sarcasm too subtle? If you don't own that property then you keep off of it unless you are invited. Don't trespass. If your parents were any good then they taunt you that as a child.

We learned to avoid her as much as possible, but she was a sad, mean-spirited woman and we felt sorry for her. All I can say about someone who intentionally would turn on their sprinklers on a woman with dementi is that it is sad. They need to get a hobby and remember that this is supposed to be the “friendliest” community. As a dog owner, I make sure my dog does not go onto anyone’s lawn. It is a matter of respect. I have a neighbor who allows her dog to poop on my front yard. She is an elderly lady who is sweet. I don’t stay up at night dwelling on it and so I let it go. Life is short.

Thanks so much ! You are right on💕

If you have been reading the post after every body weighed in on how badly the woman with dementia had been treated we were informed that she doesn’t have dementia she is just older Like Me 82 but we haven’t gotten an answer yet on whether the neighbors are still feeling stalked and are sad and this is my last post on this I couldn’t resist it one more time lol
