They can't build on it or put anything permanent on it. They might think it's theirs, it ain't. The setbacks are a lot further back than most people realize.

I don't let my dog go into other folk's yards, so I'm not defending that behavior.

Turning on a sprinkler if people are walking past is something a real @33!@#$ would do. Karma has a way of costing people money though. Toggling it on and off all the time like that and the valves might stop working(rodents chewing the wires attracted by the cool water in the valves) and the heads might just fall apart, almost like someone hit them with a hammer.

. Wrong the easement. Is owned by the home owner you have easements all around your home. Does that mean I can walk my dog on the side of your house. No if you have any questions call ARC or your tax assessor.

the easement argument is an excuse. the easement is no excuse. you are trying to justify your dog crapping on someone else's property, and not on your own property. "it's not his property". nonsense. I would have my sprinkler on also with that mentality...
and going on the street is just as gross as someone else private property...

I don't care what issues the people have. it is absolutley wrong. I say, water that lawn and if that is what it takes, then so be it.

Sad we have rude / unhappy people and do not like Animals. Many complaints never a answer for a question. Never seen my lawn die from pee. Old tale not true. If people pickup poop there no problem. The lady needs help. You might help the lady walking her dog and get her to walk to other side . I have a neighbor that sits outside all the time. My friends feel uncomfortable with the guy looking. Busybody of the neighborhood. We have many around TV. You need proof to have something done.

GRACEALLEMAN 10-10-2021 08:38 AM

Yep this confirms that there are petty boring people here with nothing else to do but spy on neighbors walking their dog and someone waring to water their lawn. How dumb can one get?

OMG! Motion sprinklers, what a great idea to **** off the neighbors! :ohdear: Hopefully they also activate when it's raining.
I hope our new neighborhood is not like this! Unbelievable!!!!

My yard, my sprinkler. My property rights.

Yes. And i do have a dog too

charlieo1126@gmail.com 10-10-2021 08:43 AM

The part of this complaint that amazes me is the “we feel stalked and sad” over someone who may or may not be intentionally spraying water on you , it certainly doesn’t take much to make some people sad. I walked the family dog in Boston much of summer , city dogs learn to go on concrete , when I have had dogs I never let them go on someone’s lawn and why not walk the other way or across the street or just help the woman , and if she’s living on her own she has some thought process going on

jimkerr 10-10-2021 08:44 AM

People who don’t like dogs are horrible human beings.

Waltdisney4life 10-10-2021 08:46 AM

It amazes me One pet owners think their animals can defecate anywhere! Stay off your neighbors lawn what’s so hard to understand! Female dog urine kills grass!!!

Dogs are ok, but the people who post this kind of crap are another thing altogether.

Everyone is very respectful and picks up any dog poop. Our scared neighbors automatically move to the other side of the street. We feel stalked and sad.

Back when we first moved here I found several piles on our lawn about two feet from the edge of the street. I'm pretty laid back about things but didn't want that to continue so I purchased one of those little lawn signs (maybe 8" square or so) urging people to pick up after their pooches. The problem stopped, but about two days later I found my sign turned around so it faced the house, not the street. There've been a few times since when I've been in the garage or outside when a dog has taken a dump on my lawn. The owner was meticulous about picking up after it. There have been no exchanges, just a friendly wave. I don't know whether or not the pile would have been there after the owner and pooch left, but judging from the fact I haven't seen a pile in just about a year now, I assume that the word has gone out and has been understood.

I don't mind dogs doing their thing on my lawn but I certainly do mind their owners not picking up after it.

Lindaws 10-10-2021 09:01 AM

Signs are not allowed on lawns.

The reality is, you cannot time when a dog does what a dog does...

One problem "non-dog owners" are missing is that when the sun beats down on the street, the temp can cause serious burns to a dog's feet. Try walking barefoot just off your driveway if you don''t believe me. Walking along the edge of the grass is the only safe place for them.

And I agree, those who don't clean up after their dogs are jerks.

As a loving dog owner I feel that if one can’t walk the dog because of sun etc, except on other people’s lawns, can’t take it to the doggie park, for example, then that person can’t take care of the dog and needs help looking after it. Hire a person who can.

(Up north it was not the sun it was the salt, ice and snow that got in between my dog’s foot pads, so I made booties for both of my dogs. At first the Welsh terrier walked funny, like Hitler with the goose step, but in time he got used to it.)

Now if the sprinklers water the street than that should be reported.

The Villages does not allow sprinklers other than the underground irrigation system plumbed to the Villages water source.

A motion sensor can trigger the installed sprinklers.

If the lady has dementia, she needs a person with her for her own safety.

Hankofthedesert 10-10-2021 09:37 AM

If it is a 'fact' about turning on the sprinklers...

I hear you asking permission to use other people’s lawn. Are you ready to help pay for that lawn’s upkeep?

No it doesn't...

Our female dog has done exactly ZERO damage to any lawn in any home we've ever owned...

SHIBUMI 10-10-2021 09:49 AM

On the surface this sounds horrible.......but once you think about it, it begs the questions, what right do people have to bring their dogs into your yard to pee and create brown spots on the grass, poop and you won't get all of it and it will burn the grass, they have no right. Dogs should go to the bathroom in their own yards or dog walking yards. Now I know why most yards look spotty, fault lies with the dog owners not the property owners. Dog owners believe everyones yard is their dogs toilet. Why is that?

And thankfully, you are in the majority...

Our home backs to a cul de sac, and the neighbors behind us have a very large side yard. When we first met them, we were in our yard, with our 12 lb Schoodle (pictured as my avatar)...

She started running around playing with us, and them, with a case of "the zoomies". At one point, she stopped in her tracks and decided to "off load", right on their yard. We profusely apologized and our new neighbors said, "Don't worry about it, just make sure you clean it up, she can run around out here whenever she wants..."

A few days later, they invited us over for drinks, and said "Bring Maggie, we love her!". As we were sitting on their lanai, Maggie jumped in the husband's lap for a belly scratch... She found a new friend... He was just as happy as she was...

We have other neighbors (not dog owners) who carry treats when they take a walk...

Just be nice, just be respectful to your neighbors... It really isn't that hard...

Toymeister 10-10-2021 09:58 AM

Wifi jammer will do the trick.

They set up a ITTT (if this then that) routine with the ring motion function. Every time motion is detected then turn zone one on for two minutes.

Besides jamming the wifi you can shut off the irrigation or snap off the sprinkler heads. Certainly illegal but it will probably get the message across.

Flame away if you like. If I got sprayed for walking on the street they would suddenly have all sorts of problems.

It's not the dogs that are causing brown spots...

It -may- happen in an area that gets constant use by pets, but not the occasional passerby...

That’s not correct. My male dogs peed in my backyard and I could always tell where they went. Part of the problem is that toiletting is disgusting and it smells and never ok to do at other people’s place without their permission. In order to own a dog one should have a plan as to how to take care of that dog.

One way I kept animals off my lawn is using spice where they would smell it. But it requires to be sprinkled after each rain. That is how I guided my dogs where I wanted them to go. That and treats when they did the right thing. Dogs are like young children and need training and help with knowing how to do the expected behavior. It is a lot of work and lots of people don’t want to take the trouble.

I guess if you live in a villa and have absolutely no grass, upkeep wouldn't be required. For those of us with lawns, watering, fertilizing, weeding and mowing is required. Hope this helps solve your confusion.

So, if a dog pees on your lawn, the owner should help you pay to have the lawn mowed, weeded, watered and fertilized? Sounds reasonable... Said no one ever...

Deflect all you want. If I still had a dog I wouldn’t dream of letting it use a neighbors lawn.

Chalk this up to the endless debate on this topic.

And I'd pay money to watch you try to stop your dog from peeing when on a walk...
