A little forwards planning. My neighbor across the street actually has mild dementia. He walks his dog around his front lawn until the dog goes. If the dog doesn’t, they go back inside. Eventually the dog tries again. As a reward (I suppose) they then go for a walk. But he also takes the dog to the dog park every day. On rainy days they have dog play dates with visitors. Those dogs are also expected to go in his yard.
Up north, if you go on people’s lawns trespassing laws apply. I do not know if that is the case in TV. |

1. Maybe the poster or a neighbor of the sprinkler home could let them know the lady has dementia.
She might slip and fall on the wet surface and seriously injure herself. 2. The lady and her dog could walk on the other side of the street. 3. If the lady has dementia, she may get lost when walking her dog. The neighbors concerned about her could offer to walk with her or walk the dog for her. 4. If the poster of this thread is concerned enough to post about this maybe he/she could help rectify the situation. Good luck. |

I love the way people use “friendliest town” in general though. Don’t you? It is almost always used by people who do something aggravating or illegal and expect the others to be “friendly” (put up with it) about it. |
This is where not having kids in the Villages is a problem. In any other neighborhood this bad actor neighbor would be the beneficiary of a good house egging, toilet paper sculpture and even a burning bag of dog poop on their doorstep.

We occasionally walk our dog around our neighborhood too. But usually at night where there is not the hot road to hurt her paws. She is on a leash and we walk for her exercise, NOT to relieve herself, that is done in our yard before hand. We keep the leash short and adjust our walk path so she cannot reach others lawns. We feel that is disrespectful of others. Allowing dogs to walk on others lawn edges is inappropriate since it is in their nature to smell and many want to mark their territory.

Sprinklers
I think the answer is easy- stay off the lawn. Being on a corner piece of property I resent all my neighbors walking their dogs on my lawn. I walk barefoot all the time and have stepped in poop repeatedly from those leaving poop on the lawn. There is no way you can clean up all the poop . Some is always left. I never walk my dogs on someone else’s property. Mine are trained to go before I leave, or when I come back. If they do have an accident off property it is in the street not on someone’s property. They pay big bucks to maintain their property and you should have respect for it. As far as I am concerned , it’s you that are the bad neighbor, not them.

Have never heard of sprinklers which respond to movement. Concept seems ridiculous. If they exist, would make it a point to walk on other side of the street. If this problem escalates, need to audition for TV show, Love Thy Neighbor.

Actually, you can if you know a little about dogs. I trained dogs to go WHERE I wanted them to, and it was not hard at all. Cats certainly know how to use a litter box. But, I understand how MOST folks in the villages do not KNOW dogs and do not understand how to handle them. It wouldn't take them much time to learn IF they really wanted to learn how to handle their pet.:doggie: |

Of course, no one has lace curtains anymore, but back in the day, they were all the rage for elderly ladies, often times widows or spinsters, that liked to hide behind them and watch the world go by, and make note of comings and goings and any odd occurrences so they could gossip about it at the church bazaar or village bean supper. Maybe it was better that way rather than airing these grievances to strangers hiding behind aliases on a public message board. |
That is totally uncalled for. If you do not like dogs The Villages is not the place for you. We all sometimes need a companion and a person is not an option. Also dogs are great therapy for some. He should be shunned by the community. That is a shame!!!
