Asheville NC
We plan on going to Asheville NC in July and hate to drive the interstates.
I'm hoping that someone from NC knows a scenic route we can take at our leisure. Thanks |

I cannot vouch for its scenic qualities, but the most logical non-Interstate routing would be US301 from Oxford, FL, to Jesup, GA, where you will join US25. Follow US25/US301 to Statesboro, GA. Then, switch to US25 from Statesboro all the way to Asheville. I'm headed to Asheville, too. Joining my friend in Nashville, TN, from where we'll drive to Asheville. Arriving 08/01, departing 08/04. I've done lots of research on where to stay, what's to do. PM me if you're interested in any input from me! SWR

I have very fond memories of Asheville from a couple of years ago. I especially loved the Biltmore Tour. As woodworking is one of my hobbies, I was simply amazed at the beautiful white oak that adorned the place.

There is a wonderful old inn there called The Grove Park Inn. If you can get reservations, do yourself a favor and stay there. Here is the link: www.groveparkinn.com

I don't know where it is in relation to your trip, but if you're looking for a scenic drive, try the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's a beautiful peaceful drive. Might even be worth a slight detour to drive on it a bit. There is a website with with a lot of information on the parkway.

We are stopping at my brother-in-law's place in Ashville on our way down late August. We'll try your scenic route on our way to TV at the beginning of Sept. Thanks

Thanks
Thanks for all the great information. I will try the route Swrinfla recommend. I have a watercolor workshop scheduled for mid July and my husband has arranged a reunion with his sister and brother at the same time. Biltmore looks like a fun tour and hopefully the mountains will be cooler.
