Default Best car route to State College, PA

Hi, if anyone travels from The Villages to Penn State in State College, PA, I’d be interested in the route you prefer. Thank you!

(My granddaughter goes to Penn State.)

up I95 then over to charlotte then up to I81, then cut over at Winchester.

Avoids DC and less crowded.

We get off 95 near richmond(?), end up taking 15 north to Gettysburg and Harrisburg, then we head east to Allentown, this completely avoids the most congested areas of 95. Sorry for the poor directions, have not done this for a few years, but i think you will get the idea.

I just went this way last month to Upstate NY and it is far better than 95 through DC. You'll go via I-95 to I-26 to I-77 to I-81. One caution - there were two dead stops in PA for construction, one for 45 minutes followed by thirty minutes of stop and go traffic. It really gets frustrating after many hours of 77 MPH.

I believe Allegiant recently announced service to State College from Sanford.
