Reading this reminded me of Woodstock where I had been invited to go with some friends but declined. They ended up stuck in mud up there. Burning Man road reopens, allowing festival-goers to escape muddy mess | Reuters

I went hunting back in the mid 1970s with a friend/co-worker of my Dad and one of my age kids in that remote area of Nevada. There is NOTHING out there.

It is so barren even the jackrabbits have to bring their lunch.

Thanks for the link; it has satisfied my curiosity.

Looks like a dusty, dirty Woodstock with costumes. Not my cup of tea, but it’s past my time. I’m glad the “kids” that went there had a good time. Gives all attendees something to reminisce about.

I guess I never got what it was until now. There is a very interesting 30 minute or so video about it.

Are there any Villages that attend Burning Man? Would like to connect/network with experienced burners and learn the basics for our first burn in 2024. Thx.

Interesting question, a friend of my son's goes. Lots of Silicon Valley IT people, lots and lots of drugs. Kind of like woodstock for rich geeks. Having said that, it would be interesting to learn more about it.

But what I /did/ have, was southern rock festivals, Dead concerts, folk festivals all over New England. We were our own pseudo-hippie generation, where we ran around in our gauze midi-dresses, barefoot on the grass, getting rained on, wearing patchouli oil, drinking out of wineskins or sloshing beer all over each other to the beat of Molly Hatchett.

Good times. I think Burning Man took the concept to a whole other level. Good for them, I say! Every generation needs their time to shine, their festive celebration of the chaotic joy of life.

Good points.
